Breedou

The idea of creating this platform for pet adoption was born in March 2022. Our motivation was strengthened by our own experience of adopting a Doberman Pinscher (Atlas) from a breeding that claimed to conduct health tests and be registered with the Canadian Kennel Club, but in reality, did none of that. This experience quickly made us realize that finding a trustworthy breeder was not an easy process for most people. That's why we made the decision to distinguish serious breeders from opportunists by creating a platform dedicated to ethical breeders.

Our Mission

Our goal is to become the leading reference in Quebec for future pet owners looking for a companion from ethical breeding. Finding a trusted breeder is not an easy task, which is why we aspire to simplify this search for future families. We also aim to reduce backyard breeding to prevent the reproduction of animals with health problems, while highlighting responsible breeders who pay great attention to the welfare of their animals.

Our values

Promoting responsible pet adoption is based on a set of essential values, including animal welfare, ethics, responsibility, transparency, education, and respect. First and foremost, animal welfare is at the core of this approach. It involves ensuring that animals are treated with dignity and respect throughout their lives. This includes providing appropriate care and a suitable environment..

Our breeders

All the breeders on our platform have registered their breeding and each litter with organizations such as the CKC, AKC, or FCI. They also conduct all the required health tests for their breed with the OFA and other recognized organizations. Additionally, we take the time to visit the breeders to ensure that the environment is clean and suitable for breeding. We make sure to only associate with the best to effectively promote ethical and responsible breeding in Quebec.

Lack of Public Education

Many people are not adequately informed about the challenges and responsibilities that breeders must face to ensure that the parents of future litters remain healthy and adhere to breed standards. It is essential that people understand that becoming a breeder is not simply about mating dogs of the same breed that appear to be healthy. Therefore, education about animal breeding is important in order to promote responsible adoption and ensure the well-being of pets. This will help reduce the number of abandoned or mistreated animals. It is a collective responsibility to raise awareness among individuals about these issues and encourage them to make informed decisions when it comes to welcoming a pet into their home.

A small step towards a better world

A portion of this issue could have been avoided if people had been better informed about pet breeding, and if a website listing high-quality breeders had been in place and well-promoted to the public. To address this situation, we are working to raise awareness among the population through our social networks. We employ various approaches, including quizzes, interesting facts, blogs, explanatory videos, and even engaging with people directly on the street to stimulate constructive discussions. As for our platform, we have established it as an essential reference for any questions related to pet adoption. Our website proves to be an equally valuable tool for breeders looking to increase their visibility and for clients in search of trustworthy professionals like breeders, trainers, veterinarians, or accessory shops. Our primary goal is to ensure that future companions come from a quality environment and receive appropriate guidance for the rest of their journey.
